Our Story
San Matteo was founded in 2010 by the two brothers Fabio and Ciro Casella. The first Location in the Upper East Side NYC at the corner of 2nd Ave and 90th Street and, after a few years at the corner of 2nd Ave and 81st St. The restaurants have been offering some of the best Italian products to the city of New York creating a unique dining experience, for this reason San Matteo has become a point of reference for all those who love Italian cuisine. It is no coincidence that many VIPs choose the San Matteo unique experience of immersion in Italian philosophy and culinary tradition. During the course of the years the restaurants have acclaimed so many reviews and articles in major newspaper and magazines like Ny Times, Ny Magazines, Forbes, Michelin Guide etc Today San Matteo is the Official pizzeria of U.S. Open Tennis event and is also 2019 and 2022 winner of NYC Wine and Food Festival Burger Bash.
In 2023 Fabio Casella (one of the brothers) went in vacation to SWFL to see longtime friend Giuseppe Manco and his wife Eleonora Calvacchi (previous owners of Mani in Pasta NYC) that relocated in Estero,FL during the Pandemic.
Fabio fell in love with Estero and the couple already have been living and working in this paradise community for a few years, that’s how they came up to open” San Matteo Italian Restaurant & Bar” located in University Village Shops.
The beautiful 270 seats modern Italian restaurant is orchestrated by Executive Chef Giuseppe Manco and General Manager Eleonora Calvacchi.
During his culinary experience Giuseppe had the pleasure to be awarded multiple times at one of the most important Pizza Competition in the world as Pizza World Champion: Best Neapolitan pizza in 2014, Best Roman style Pizza in 2017 and 3rd place Neapolitan Pizza in 2023.
In Nyc he had worked years for celebrity Chef and Iron chef Judge Donatella Arpaia, and thanks to his work he has been received review and articles from Ny Magazine, Ny Times, Forbes, Gambero Rosso Guide, Corriere Della Sera and Repubblica.
San Matteo Italian Restaurant & Bar is an Italian restaurant that combines favored classics with a modern touch.
